Regional Sanitation crews remove the shoring frame from the trench where the new interceptor is being installed along Folsom Blvd. Crews have been busy preparing to install light rail tracks south of the Highway 50 overpass in Folsom. In this photo, concrete ties are stacked neatly next to the future site of the light rail tracks. RT anticipates that all light rail track for the extension to Downtown Folsom will be in place by October of this year. Participants at the last public meeting for the Rancho Cordova General Plan indicated a desire to promote and preserve the historic Grange located on Kilgore Drive.
     
Folsom Extension Update

   Sacramento Regional Transit will host an open house and presentation on the progress of the light rail project from Sunrise to Historic Folsom. RT officials will review the project schedule, future road closures and plans for track and station construction. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 28, 6:30 - 8 p.m. at Granite Center, 909 Mormon Street in Folsom.

Folsom Council introduces own ballot measure

   The public will be given a chance to weigh in on the City of Folsom's proposed ballot measure which addresses development for the land in the city's Sphere of Influence, south of US 50.

   On July 13 the Folsom City Council introduced and conducted the first reading of the proposed measure. The ballot measure contains an amendment to the City Charter that will set policies for any development in the area Prairie City Road, White Rock Road and the El Dorado County line.

   Public comments will be taken at the second reading of the proposed amendment during the July 27 City Council meeting. At that time, Council members may choose to adopt the ordinance that places the proposed amendment before local voters at the November 2 general election.

   Council meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, 50 Natoma St.

   Results from the four previous public workshops on the Rancho Cordova General Plan can now be found on the city's General Plan web site. Click on the date of the workshop to discover what was discussed and recommended by participants.

   A Growth Visioning Study Session is next on the calendar. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 21. Please check the city's web site for the location on the meeting.
