| Tracks, new stations to open June 13
The Sunrise Light Rail Extension, featuring three new stations, will be ready for June 14th's Monday morning commute. The new tracks will run from Mather Field to just east of Sunrise Blvd. along Folsom Blvd., passing by the Zinfandel Station and the Cordova Town Center Station, ending at the Sunrise Station.
RT will begin the celebration of the extension on Friday, June 11 with a press conference at 11 a.m. Free train rides will begin around noon on Friday and will continue through Sunday. RT, community leaders and businesses are planning an community-wide celebratory event for Friday at 5 p.m. featuring food and entertainment at the Sunrise Station parking lot.
Down under and almost over
During the past few months, Regional Sanitation crews have installed 8,300 feet of new sewer pipe under Folsom Boulevard. To date, the pipeline has been installed up to Buffalo Creek, or about halfway between Sunrise Blvd. and Aerojet Rd. Crews will continue with construction for approximately six more months. During the sewer pipe installation, crews will be working to widen Folsom Blvd., and extend light rail tracks to the City of Folsom.
Open House on Closed Dam Road
There will be an open house on May 27, 4:30 - 7 p.m. at the Folsom Community Center to receive public comment for the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) being prepared on the impacts of closing Folsom Dam Road. A replacement for the Folsom Dam Road is anticipated by 2007.
